Honesty

Honesty

A direct line to yourself and to the world

Honesty is a line with no shortcuts, a line with no indirect paths.
Any attempt to dodge it, shorten it, or walk around it will only make it longer.
Honesty is probably one of the greatest gifts we have for true self-preservation. It prevents us from hiding, pretending, and neglecting. It forces us to confront, to mature, to be brave—
to face reality as it is and to accept it as it is.

It goes far beyond simply telling the truth or avoiding lies. It’s a profound alignment between our thoughts, our words, our actions, and the reality they seek to describe or refer to.
It brings us back to practice—to inner inquiry, to exploring the assumptions, projections, generalizations, and judgments through which we perceive reality, and to noticing how, through our speech (inward and outward), we continue to reinforce and sustain them.

A commitment to sincerity is a deeply meaningful commitment we can make to ourselves and to those around us.

Within the tradition,
it is called Satya.
A specific form of Non-harming
